Physical Description:
Erik has white hair that is completely natural and purple eyes which are also completely natural. He’s extremely pale due to where he grew up, and he tends to cover up completely whenever he needs to go outside so as to avoid getting sunburns. He uses the lightest fabric he can afford though, to keep himself from overheating and passing out.

Personality:
Anyone who came into brief contact would tell you that Erik was just like the place he came from; icey and cold. Except, of course, they would be wrong. Just like Iceland has a misleading name, Erik has a misleading front. He does act cold and distance to anyone he meets, until they can prove that they’re worthy of his affections. He then becomes rather affectionate and friendly.

He has a violent temper and will explode rather brightly after a long period of keeping his temper under wraps. The more stressed he is, the more often he will explode. Erik is rather protective of the people he cares about, wanting to do everything he can to make their lives easier for them. He is especially protective of Kateryna.

History
Erik was born to a young couple who was on a business trip with the son they already had. Knowing that they couldn't afford another child, they gave Erik over to an orphanage, giving him nothing but his first name, thus the surname of 'Laxness' instead of anything ending with the typical 'son' that Icelanders use. He grew up at the orphanage being constantly shunned for being different looking than the other children, a process that slowly built up the shields he shows to people he's never met before.

At the age of eleven, he bonded with and was adopted by Kateryna Braginskaya, a young Ukrainian woman desperate for a child of her own. They bonded rather quickly and settled nicely into the routine of mother and son. Despite this, he hasn't taken on her last name because he doesn't want to let go of the name he's had since shortly after his birth, feeling that it's a rather thin tie to his original family.

Important Information
Erik has a pet puffin that he found in the desert, which has a symbol on it's neck marking it as property of an exotic animal dealer. He put a ribbon on the bird to keep anyone from knowing that fact and acts like it's a present from his mother rather than an animal he acquired illegally. From lack of anything better, he calls the puffin Mr. Puffin.

Roleplay Sample
It was far too hot. This, Erik knew, was something that would never change but needed to change nonetheless. Smiling blankly at the people he was helping, he shifted to keep his sweat from becoming visible through his shirt. He hated this place; hated the heat, the sand, the people...but his mother was happy here. And so, to keep her happy, Erik would put up with all of the annoyances for as long as he had to.

Relaxing minutely as the people left the shop, he settled behind the counter where it was cooler and closed his eyes, concentrating on getting the heat to leave his body. It wasn't going to work, he knew this as well, but it was helpful for short periods of time until he could get a more permanent solution to the heat. And even then, that would vanish with the rising sun. But he could ignore all of this, so long as it made his mother happy. Anything to make her happy.
