In Depth
Physical Description
The first thing you will notice is the big smile that is most of the time lighting up the Asians features. Looking a bit more up you’ll see bright brown eyes that look happy and exited most of the time. His black hair is cut short and he will never let it grow longer than under his ears, also there is a single curl sticking out of the rest of his hair. And when you look at it in the right light it seems like there is a face in it.
He is pretty tall and has gained through the hard work a lot of muscle, which you might not expect when only seeing him shortly since he always wears clothes that cover his whole body.

Most of his clothes are white and blue, some of them purple, but he never wears black or very dark colours. All of his shirts have sleeves that cover his hands and he never rolls them up even when working, so unless he wears a new shirt the sleeves will be dirty.

Personality
The first time you meet Yong Soo, he seems a bit stupid, very cheery and annoying. Most of the time he has a big smile on his face, even when he is sad or has any other feeling he will smile, because he doesn’t want people to worry, and thinks when he is happy other people will automatically be more happy too.

The words “polite” and “shy” must have some meaning to him, but what exactly no one will probably ever know. He treats people he just met like he knew them for years, with the only difference that for a friend he would die and for a person he just met he wouldn’t. He tends to trust others really fast and when he likes someone he will keep calling them brother or sister. (Which might come from his desperate want for a family.)

Yong Soo seems like someone very simple, someone you can fool easily because well, the way he acts is most of the time just silly and no person with a brain would act that way. But he can be quite smart too: everything technical, puzzle games, and riddles that other people might find impossible to solve are a piece of cake for him.

He also tends to be overly dramatic when something happens. But only if it isn’t important, while stuff like accidently cutting his finger might get him to make a gigantic scene. As soon as someone (doesn’t even have to be him) is in danger he will not say a single complaint and just help the person.

History
As a little kid, Yong Soo lived with his parents in South Korea. But when he was about four years old they moved to the Sahara-desert, he’s not really sure if anyone ever gave a good reason for moving or if they just told the usual stuff that you tell little children, but it doesn’t matter since he doesn’t remember anything from back than anymore.
There in the city Aldmoor they lived a nice middle class live, his father working as a mechanic at the shipyard and his mother taking good care of little Yong Soo.

But one day he came home finding only a hastily written note saying: “At the hospital”. When he finally arrived there he found his mother crying and his father nowhere to be seen. So Yong Soo just sat down next to his mother, trying his best to comfort her and to find out what happened. After a horrible long time of waiting, a doctor finally appeared. And so Yong Soo found out: His father had been working as usual, he had just been repairing something on the outside of a ship when suddenly the safety rope ripped. It had been an old rope but nothing had happened yet so no one thought it was necessary to get a new one. So it was really no ones fault just an accident as many others, unfortunately Yong Soos father had been quite high and when he fell down he hit the ground in a weird angle. The doctors tried their best but it didn’t work, Yong Soos father died leaving his wife and son behind.

Life was a lot harder now, but the two tried their best. They had to move to a much smaller house and both started working. At first his mother didn’t want Yong Soo to work already, with him being only twelve years old, but they hadn’t much of a choice. Even though her son begged, Yong Soos mother didn’t let him work as a Mechanik, “loosing one person you love like that is worse enough”, she said. So Yong Soo took a job as fisher, this was of course just as dangerous, but he always got his pay and was also quite good at it. And when they had a good catch he was allowed to take home as much fish as he wanted.

This way the two of them made a not as good as before but an ok life. Until his mother got sick. She first didn’t tell Yong Soo because she didn’t want him to worry and kept on working, but one day she just collapsed. She was brought to the hospital but she didn’t get better. Yong Soo visited her every day, and every time he saw her she looked worse. But he kept his happy smile, every day he told her that life was great, he was doing his best, that she would get better and how beautiful she looked today. He told her a million lies about how good everything was. Even though everything was slowly falling apart, the hospital was eating up all the money, they nearly didn’t catch any fish and once Yong Soo was robbed. But he knew that his mother would never leave the hospital again. Unless in a coffin. And that way it came, he knew it was going to happen, he suspected it from the very beginning but was always afraid to really believe it. Still it was a great shock when it happened. On a Thursday he went to the hospital only to find his mother was gone. He just stood there for a while staring at the empty bed and he would have probably stood there until he went unconscious of the lack of sleep, but a nurse came and told him were they brought his mother. The body of his mother. The dead body. He went where the nurse told him and set down next to the body. And he cried.

Two years later all he has of his past is an old photo his memory and two graves.

Roleplay Sample Here Another hot day, the air was burning and you could feel your spit drying in your mouth as soon as you opened it. But there were still some lonely figures walking along the mostly empty streets. On of them was Yong Soo. He didn’t hurry but walked down the way slowly as if he had nothing better to do. Actually he had quite a lot to do but he was completely lost and since he had enough money to last the week he didn’t mind that he missed work. So he just took a turn around a corner, looking for something interesting. There was nothing interesting just a lot of heat. A sigh escaped the Korean boy, he had lived here for so long but even now he got lost, must be something wrong with the streets. Still he couldn’t deny that he liked wandering around like this (even though he would like someone else to talk to). And so he continued walking the usual smile on his lips until, finally he saw someone else. “Hey! Hey you over there!” he started shouting, waving at the stranger like mad who made a suspicious face at Yong Soo. The Asian walked (or better run) over to the stranger his face lit by a bright grin. “I’m lost! Can you tell me where this is?!” Waiting for the answer he kept smiling while the stranger kept looking suspicious now with a bit of shock mixed in. “Uhm…”

After reading the story again it seems so cliché <.<
Also I thought about making Korea a split personality since there are no ocs allowed and he is south AND north… but I’m pretty sure I couldn’t play that right

The Korea of Hetalia represents South Korea only, so being a split personality would have nothing to do with North Korea.
